Méthode Traditionnelle Vin Mousseux
The new range « Vices&Vertus » which refers to the seven virtues and seven deadly sins represent the sculptures in our old barrel cellar. Our motivation, is to make people discover the traditional grapes from our region (Melon de Bourgogne and Folle Blanche) with different wine making processes.
Orgueil means “Ego”. We are very proud to spotlight the Melon de Bourgogne grape. Most of all using an unusual wine making process : the méthode traditionnelle.
Grape Variety: 100% Melon de Bourgogne
Wine Making Process Orgueil Blanc Sparkling wine Loire Valley
First, the base wine comes from the heart of the chateau de Chasseloir. The producer makes all the process on site. Then, after fermentation in underground concrete vats, the wine takes on its mousse from a second fermentation. Then it matures on lees during nine months. Finally Disgorgement happens at the winery. Indeed, the dosage was chosen brut to keep the complexity and freshness of the wine. Last but not least, to close the loop and come back to our Muscadet roots the final liqueur is made from our cuvee Comte leloup de Chasseloir 2014.
Budding occurred beginning of April thanks to the cool temperature during spring. Small rains in June were necessary to compensate with the very dry and warm summer. Nevertheless, flowering and the development of the grape went well until we started the harvest on September 3rd. Thanks to the exceptional Indian summer we had the opportunity to take all our time and wait for the perfect maturity of every parcel.
Food and Wine pairing suggestion: At first, it is a festive wine. Indeed, you can choose to pair it with all your aperitif parties. Also, wine is very complex. Pair it easily during a meal with shellfish and white meat.
