Gigondas “La Combe des Marchands”
Vintage: 2020
JEB DUNNUCK rating: 90-92pts
comments: “The 2020 Gigondas La Combe Des Marchands should be a small step up, but it’s largely in the same style, with lots of Provençal aromas and flavors, medium to full body, a good sense of purity, and a great finish.”
Gigondas is an appellation of Southern Rhone. Formerly dedicated to olive groves, the village of Gigondas progressively turned to Grenache.
“Combe” is an old word used in the “Oc” language (Old dialect used in South of France). It means the meeting point of the surrounding valley. Indeed, It was an important meeting point for merchants.
