Marquis de Ravardel Châteauneuf du Pape

Marquis de Ravardel Châteauneuf du Pape vintage is 2021. Now available at Monsieur CHATTE.

The Domaine was born from the union between two families, Marquis and Ravardel. Originally from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Marquis have been producing wine
since 1811 and forged a name for themselves in the era of Paul and Téophile, in 1923. alongside Baron Le Roy, and they worked to create the first French wine AOC
in 1936. The Balmean Ravardel family devoted itself to viticulture, market gardening and livestock farming, and sold its products on the markets of the Vaucluse plain.

The winemakers harvest the grapes at full maturity and partially destem them. They then use gentle, extended vinification to preserve the fruit’s natural character. After fermentation, the wine ages entirely in concrete vats. This approach allows the terroir and grape variety to take center stage without the influence of oak.

Grape Variety: Grenache Syrah Cinsault Counoise

Tasting notes for Châteauneuf du Pape:

The wine offers a pure and precise expression of its origin. Its no-frills style reveals the essence of the grape through naked elegance, refined balance, and impressive accuracy. Rather than relying on excessive extraction or oak, the wine delivers a clear and authentic taste of the Southern Rhône.

Wines & Food Pairing recommendations:

This Southern Rhône red pairs especially well with venison served with lingonberry sauce. The wine’s ripe fruit complements the sauce, while its silky tannins enhance the rich character of the meat. It also works beautifully with roast game, grilled lamb, beef stew, and hearty Mediterranean dishes.

Serve this wine at 15–16°C to reveal its full aromatic and textural character. Finally, enjoy it between five and ten years after the vintage. With careful cellaring, the wine can develop additional depth and complexity while preserving its vibrant fruit profile.
