About Chateau D’Arsac

A Historic Wine Estate on the Threshold of Bordeaux A Millennium of Tradition and Renewal

Situated in Arsac at the heart of the Médoc, Château d’Arsac ranks among the region’s oldest estates. Its origins reach back to the 12th century under the Lords of Arsac, and in the 16th century the property passed into the hands of Thomas de Montaigne. Once the largest vineyard in the Médoc, the estate suffered a prolonged period of decline following the phylloxera crisis.

In 1986 Philippe Raoux embarked on a determined restoration, replanting the vineyard and renovating the buildings, thereby revitalizing the estate with a contemporary spirit. Today Château d’Arsac is esteemed for both its viticultural distinction and its artistic character. The estate’s vineyard covers 108 hectares, allocated as follows:

  • 54 hectares in AOC Margaux, one of Médoc’s most prestigious appellations;
  • 32 hectares in AOC Haut-Médoc, known for age-worthy wines with balanced aromatics;
  • 4 hectares in AOC Bordeaux Blanc Sauvignon, producing remarkably fresh white wines.

Its sandy-gravel terroir, influenced by the Gironde estuary, yields wines of finesse, elegance and complexity.
