what exactly is French charcuterie?
First French Charcuterie differs from cured meats of Italy, or smoked Delikatessen meats made in neighboring Germany.
The word itself comes from the French words chair, meaning “flesh,” and cuit, meaning “cooked.”
More importantly, it first entered the culinary lexicon in the 15th century. Indeed, it represents storefronts specializing in the preparation of pig.
At that time shop owners could not sell uncooked pork. These owners, charcutiers, would hang inventory in their shop windows to draw customers in. Last but not least, it worked: Charcuterie gets essence !
Charcuterie is also a craft work innovation—resulting from a need to preserve the fruits of a day’s hunt. Once processed, you can keep it for a longer time to enjoy food all over some periods.
Last But not least, French Butcher really pays attention to the quality and origins of the meat. They are also proud to sell and work with regional products to guarantee taste of authenticity.
