Chateau du Glana, Saint Julien vintage is 2017.
First, this wine is fruity and attractive with blueberry and floral character.
Château du Glana is located on the Route des Grands Vins along the Gironde estuary. More precisely, the Chateau remains between the villages of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, just opposite Château Ducru-Beaucaillou.
Today, the chateau lays on 59 hectares of vines practically in one piece.
Moreover, the Château du Glana vineyard is under the prestigious appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Saint-Julien.

Maturing : 12 months ageing, 40% new barrels
Wine pairing Suggestions: Medium body, fine tannins it will be a great friend with an artisan cheese platter or some Roasted meat on the grill.

Blackcurrant, blackberry, pencil-lead, cedar and dark-chocolate aromas. Some vanilla bean, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Tight and concentrated. Better from 2025.

A good estate to note down. Brothers Ludovic and Julien Meffre are making good wines here outside of the classified rankings that dominate the appellation. It has a touch of hedgerow in it. In my mind is shorthand for not being over-polished. Therefore you still get a sense of vibrancy but of actually being made by someone, not pulled off a conveyor belt.

First, the privileged terroirs escaped spring frosts!
After a relatively dry winter, spring was very beautiful and budburst was particularly early. Flowering took place in good conditions.
Unfortunately, at the end of April, the Bordeaux region experienced a devastating spring frost, the most severe since 1991.
However, Chateau du Glana terroirs were completely spared.
Indeed, vines continue their growth cycle and the grapes to ripen without any problems. Moreover, the large temperature variations between day and night at the end of the season favored good color migration. “We are aware that we are one of the properties completely spared by this terrible climatic accident.
As a result, we were able to obtain a production that was both generous and consistent, but also of high quality. The wines produced are dense, colorful, and aromatic, also displaying very beautiful balance. Wines that have nothing to be ashamed of after the exceptional 2015 and 2016…
