Did you know about Evian Mineral Water?
First, let’s go back to when it all began: 1789. And what a year!
The most important year in our history: the year when a local French nobleman, the Marquis de Lessert, discovered Evian natural mineral water in the town of Évian-les-Bains.
While he was walking, he became thirsty and drank from a spring that turned out to be much more than just an ordinary spring.
The Marquis found the water so “light and pleasant on the palate” that he began drinking it regularly.
Seduced by the quality of the water, Monsieur Cachat began selling his water to the local community.
Soon, people wanted to not only drink the water, but also immerse themselves in it.
In 1806, the first thermal spa opened its doors, followed in 1826 by the first bottling plant installed on the site of the Cachat spring. The popularity of the spring attracted visitors from all over Europe and beyond.
The Société des Eaux Minérales d’Evian and the evian® brand were then created to develop the thermal spa and water bottling activities.
Driven by the growing demand from people wishing to enjoy the benefits of evian® at home, larger-scale bottling began at the end of the 19th century. Since then, evian® water has become synonymous with healthy hydration and well-being.
