The domaine evolves on hillsides, gentle slopes, and plains. The soil expresses all the aspect of Provence and is the realm of Aleppo pine, lavender, truffles and… vines
This wine is 100% organic certified .
The Southern Rhône Valley is home to a multi-faceted vineyard. At its heart is the mighty Rhône River with plateaus, terraces and slopes that form a patchwork running up to the Giant mountain of Provence: Mont Ventoux.
You will also find all the extremes that nature can provide:
first an intense heat that is sometimes the cause of drought;
then, the famous Mistral, a cold dry wind that blows down the Rhône valley from the north;
at last a rich and complementary soils that are made up of clays, limestone, stones, sandstone and big river-rolled pebbles.
Tasting Notes:
At first, deep purple colour. Then red fruits flavours and cooked strawberries with some hints of spices. Overall, a powerful and fleshy mouth with a pleasantly freshness.
The red wines from Visan inherit the power and roundness of Grenache (40% minimum of the blend), but also the fruitiness of Syrah and the aromatic persistence of Mourvèdre (25% minimum for these last two grape varieties). They have good ageing potential.
Food pairing recommendation: A great pairing with grilled red meats or focaccia.
Serving recommendation: To serve between 16 and 18°C.
To keep within 5 years.
History of Visan and date for its appellation
Traces of life from the Gallo-Roman period have been discovered in Visan.
The vine was already established there under Probus, in the 3rd century. From 1250, the city had its communal press. A property of the Templars for a time, this location became papal land in 1344.
The Confrérie des vignerons de Visan, the first in the region and one of the first in France, was created in 1475 and remained in operation until 1792. In 1966, Visan was classified as Côtes du Rhône Villages Visan.
