- Le Blanc sec de Suduiraut, Bordeaux blanc 2017
Gourmet and fresh, the Blanc Sec de Suduiraut offers immediate pleasure.
Its dazzling aromatic expression invites you to taste it in its youth, more quickly than S de Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes.
For its development, we have selected a specific terroir of the Suduiraut vineyard, mainly planted with Sémillon. This terroir, made up of fine sandy gravel, promotes the production of fragrant fruits and brings a nice freshness to the wine.Grape Varieties: 51% semillon – 49% sauvignon blanc
Breeding: 66% in vats – 34% in barrels including 10% new wood, for 6 months
First, in 2017, the climate was generally dry and hot. Then, spring unfolded normally and bud burst was a little early. This earliness was undermined by two frost episodes on April 21 and 27. The vineyard was affected on the outskirts and to the tune of 25-30% overall.
Overall, these meteorological conditions caused uneven development in the vines with almost a month difference from one plot to another, and the rainfall was high in May and early June. Fortunately, summer arrived with hot and dry weather. Thanks to some rain during maturation, the vineyard was finally a week ahead.
The harvest took place from August 29 to September 6. The early ripening led to the start of the harvest in August, the second time in 15 years, in order to preserve the acidity of the berries. We started with the 25-30 year old Sauvignon Blancs and Semillons. A little rain in early September interrupted us for two days and we finished the harvest on younger plots from September 4 to 6.
Wine Tasting Notes: “Blanc Sec de Suduiraut 2017 has a light yellow color with green highlights. The discreet nose presents floral aromas, white fruits and an aniseed touch. The mouth is greedy with a nice tension. The palate reveals notes of pear, white flowers and a classic salinity of our terroir. Although very young, this vintage is already seductive and promises a good evolution. »
