Le B par Maucaillou, Bordeaux Supérieur, 2016
Awards: 89 pts Roger Voss:
“While still closed and firm, this wine has plenty of potential. Hints of acidity along with smoky flavors give it a balance between richness and freshness. The wine should be ready from 2021.” ROGER VOSS
Not to be confused with Château de Maucaillou in Moulis en Médoc, the grapes for B par Maucaillou come from the 55 hectares of Château de Beau Rivage in the Baurech estate. But beautifully vinified by Château de Maucaillou! It is a subtle red wine all in balance between freshness and richness. Typical Bordeaux grape variety, notes of undergrowth and spices. The woody side is delicate. It is greedy, suave and the tannins are supple. Frank attack, fruit and length in the mouth. Beautiful bunches of grapes, winemaking by real professionals, it’s simple. Open it an hour before serving to “relax” it, but don’t worry, it’s ready to drink with your dishes or your cheeses.
Grape Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Tasting notes: First, the nose of this red wine offers aromas of red and black fruits. Then you will notice slightly spicy undergrowth notes.
Then on the palate, this Bordeaux wine has a frank attack. Overall it is a fruity wine with a good length.
Food Pairing Suggestions: Le B par Maucaillou will pair deliciously well with a roasted Veal Chop with Small Vegetables but also a Lamb Navarin.
