Château Lafont Menaut, Pessac Leognan red 2019

Awards: wine Enthusiast: 92/100

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (45%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). Aging lasts 12 months in barrels, 30% of which are new.

Château Lafont-Menaut is located in Pessac-Léognan, in the Graves region of Bordeaux. It has belonged to the Perrin family since 1990, when Philibert Perrin acquired the property near Château Carbonnieux. He undertakes a deforestation program and finds an old abandoned wash house: the Menaut fountain, it is this which is at the origin of the name of the Château. Philibert Perrin has replanted over the years 15 hectares of red grape variety and 3.5 hectares of white grape variety in order to revive this ancestral vineyard.

Tasting Notes: This pessac Leognan has a cherry- fruited, weighty wine with ripe tannins and good minerality. This is a property with an excellent future.

Food pairing suggestions: The perfect wine to enjoy with a stew such as Boeuf Bourguignon, some game or artisan cheese such as a nice creamy coulommiers.

Pessac Leognan Appellation:

Pessac-Léognan is a prestigious appellation for red wine in the Bordeaux region of south-western France. It was carved out of the Graves sub-region in 1987 as recognition for its high quality red and white wines.
