Chateau Grand Tayac Margaux 2014, 75cl.
Award: Gold medal Gilbert & Gaillard.
Margaux wines are famous since Gallo-Roman times. Their excellence stems from the quality of the soils, the mild micro-climate brought by the Gironde estuary nearby as well as an excellent natural drainage.
The vineyard of Château Grand-Tayac has nearly only old vines planted in 1962 and stretches over a gravelly slope in Tayac. The cellar, an old nineteenth century post-house, can be found in the hamlet known as « Le Grand Soussans ».
The careful mastery of the yields allows the grapes to reach optimum ripeness before hand picking.
The Wine quality stands by not only the authentic Margaux terroir but also the fruit quality and the wine complexity.
Grape varieties : 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot.
Tasting Notes: Slight notes of blueberry, ripe black fruits as well as ripe raspberry with discreet toasted hints.
The palate is fruity, well-balanced, mineral and offers a slight tension as well as juiciness.
In the mouth this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry and fleshy raspberry associated with a discreet hint of cassis and redcurrant as well as discreet hints of spices. Tannins are fine. Good length.
